A Site for the Condo Association of 1108 to 1112 Park Avenue, Hoboken, NJ
Unlike no-pet condominium complexes, Upper Park permits a maximum of two animals per unit which includes dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, etc. (Master Deed, Section 10,11c) In our complex dogs are the most popular pets and are most frequently met on the stairs and in the hallways. As a result, their behavior is of particular interest and concern.
The slogan Curb Your Dog has two meanings. One is to control the animal by using a leash, and the other is to see that the dog relieves itself on the gutter side of the curb, not on the side walk.
When the dog is out of its unit, it must be kept on a leash. This is a matter of obeying the laws of the state and the city. It is also a matter of assuring that the dog does not run into people on the steps causing them to trip and fall. Dogs running unleashed in the halls or on the stoop stairs create a hazard for those carrying infants, for young children using the stairs, or for anyone juggling packages and bags of groceries. The precaution or having the dog on a leash is also required by Upper Park.
Another responsibility of dog owners involves cleaning up when "can't wait accidents" occur in the buildings, on the stoops, or sidewalk in front of the buildings. If this happens in the hallway, the mess should be blotted up followed by use of a rug cleaner (disinfectant alone does not do a complete clean up). If the dog urinates on the stoop or on the ivy around the trees, be certain to carry water to rinse it away. Dog urine carries germs, reeks and incidentally, kills the ivy.
Upper Park knows that dog owners love their pooch. The rest of the residents would love to do that as well. Thank you for being a responsible neighbor.
