Garbage and Recycling

Following are instructions for regular trash and disposal of household furniture, as well as guidelines for recycling of mixed paper, cardboard, glass, cans and plastic. For your convenience, download the recycle poster issued by the Hoboken municipality.

No Garbage or Recycling can be placed on the curb before 9PM the night of pick up, or UPCA will receive fines. It must be placed behind the gate.



Trash & Household Furniture

Trash and household furniture is being picked up on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday evenings.

Trash in tied plastic bags is placed in the containers found in the front of the buildings. To the right of the gate entrance are three containers for regular household trash. Please cover the containers with the lids provided. These containers are placed at curbside after 9 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

Household Furniture such as non-metal furniture, mattresses and the like may also be laced within the front gate on these days. See below for disposal of metal appliances and metal furniture.

Important - Please do not include hazardous waste such as paint, varnish, turpentine, pesticide, batteries, paint and motor oil cans. For disposal of these items, call 1-800-540-0987 or 201-420-2385.


Glass, Cans & Plastic

Glass, cans and plastic are being picked up on Tuesday.

Glass - Place clean glass bottles and jars of any color in plastic bags and deposit in the containers with lids marked "Glass, bottles, plastic only" found to the left of the gate entrance. Please remove lids and tops of glass bottles and jars.

Cans - Clean aluminum and tin cans, foil and metal food containers may be mixed with glass and plastic items in plastic bags and deposited in the containers with lids marked "Glass, bottles, plastic only."

Plastic - Plastic bottles marked on the bottom with 1 or 2 (soda bottles, milk jugs, detergent bottles and the like) may be mixed with glass and cans and deposited in the containers with lids marked "Glass, bottles, plastic only."

Important - Please do not include window glass, light bulbs, aerosol cans, metal hangers, Styrofoam, plastic wrap, motor oil or paint containers.

 



Mixed Paper & Cardboard

Mixed paper & cardboard is being picked up on Thursday.

Paper - May be placed in paper or plastic bags and deposited in the back two containers to the left of the front gate. Newspapers, magazines, junk mail, office and construction paper, hard and soft cover books are accepted.

Cardboard - Cardboard boxes should be flattened, tied or bundled in a box and placed under the front stoop until collection is performed on Thursday evening. If it is at all possible, please retain the cardboard in your unit until Thursday evening.


Metal Appliances and Furniture

For disposal of metal appliances and furniture call 201-420-2385 on Tuesday and Thursday for collection on Wednesday and Friday morning.

Appliances - Remove doors from refrigerators, washers, dryers and stoves.

Metal Furniture - Metal cabinets, bed frames, desks, computers, and the like are accepted but call first.
